Traveling Tips for Labor Day

With the long Labor Day weekend approaching us, it is important to take extra precautions before hitting the road.  Following some simple tips can help ensure that you and your loved ones stay safe:

  1. Buckle Up!  And be sure all your passengers are wearing their safety belts and children are in car seats, if appropriate.  According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety seat belts, when properly used, are 45 % effective in preventing deaths in potentially fatal crashes and 50% effective in preventing serious injuries.
  2. If you are drinking, do not get behind the wheel.  If you plan on drinking designate a driver beforehand or take an alternate method of transportation.
  3. Allow plenty of time to reach your destination in order to avoid rushing and aggressive driving tendencies.
  4. Stay distraction free, by not texting, playing with the radio, etc.  If you are going to use your cell phone, use a hands-free device and/or voice activated dialing.

Have a great, safe and happy holiday weekend!
