Arizona Insurance — Do you have “Full Coverage”?

We often hear from our clients that they have “full coverage” insurance. But what does that really mean? Arizona’s current law, A.R.S. § 28-4009, requires drivers have at least $15,000 to cover injuries to an individual, $30,000 to cover injuries to a group of people, and $10,000 for damage to property.

This level of coverage became law in Arizona 42 years ago. As others have pointed out, at that time, Richard Nixon was president!  Airbags were a futuristic invention…not standard equipment on cars.  One of the most popular cars, the Ford Gran Torino, cost about $4,500. In the last 40 years, more than 90% of other states have raised their minimum requirements in light of modern economic realities. In the last five years alone, Texas, Utah, Illinois, and Ohio have all raised their minimums to $25,000 or $30,000 per person.
