Boo! Halloween Safety Tips

Get ready to trick-or-treat and follow these helpful tips to ensure you and your loved ones have a safe & Happy Halloween!

1) Motorists:  The National Safety Council urges you to be extra alert on Halloween.  Watch for children darting out from between parked cars, walking on roadways, medians and curbs.  Enter and exit driveways very carefully and be on the look out for kids in dark clothing, especially after sunset.

2) Parents: Make sure there is an adult or older, responsible youth with your little ones at all times.  Plan and discuss the route your trick-or-treaters want to follow.  Instruct your kids to only to trick-or-treat in familiar areas, only stop at houses that are well-lit and to never enter a stranger’s home.  Pin  a slip of paper with your child’s name, address and phone number inside their costume in case they get separated from the group.  Give your little ones a  flashlight and/or trim their candy bag with reflective tape.  Be sure to tell your kids to return at a certain time to not eat any of their candy until you’ve had a chance to inspect it.
