New Year’s Eve Fireworks

All over town, you might notice more stores selling fireworks in anticipation of New Year’s Eve.  It is legal to purchase fireworks, but it may be illegal to use them. Tucson Fire Department points out  what you need to know in case you are thinking using fireworks for your celebration:

• Fireworks considered “novelty items,” such as sparklers no longer than 10 inches and fountains that are placed on the ground, can be set off legally within Tucson city limits.

• Novelty items say “emits showers of sparks” on the package.

• Anything that shoots up into the air is not allowed to be set off in Tucson.

Remember that different cities and towns have different rules regarding fireworks, if you are unsure contact your local fire department or town. Have a happy & safe New Year’s Eve!
